Don’t waste your marketing budget.
Everyone knows about traditional advertising methods and strategies. As a small business owner, you have to be creative when it comes to advertising.
Paying search engines, like Google, to place your ads across the internet tends to be expensive and ineffective for many small business owners. Running a Google Adwords campaign requires a large budget and lots of patience. Many small businesses fall into the Google trap though, thinking that it will turn their business into an instant success.
Another way to blow your marketing budget is to sign up with a large company like Yelp. They will lock you into an expensive long term marketing agreement, and then forget that you even exist. Many large companies like Yelp treat their “clients” as numbers, and will be very little help to a small business after the initial sign up process is complete.
Creative Marketing Alternatives
Advertise on a Podcast
Podcasts have been around since about 2004, but in recent years have gained serious popularity and attention. Podcasts are pre-recorded radio shows that can be found on various listening platforms. A podcast can be about anything: from running, to politics, sports, religion, video games, and even marketing. A popular podcast will have thousands of followers, and these listeners tune in every week to hear their favorite hosts talk about topics that interest them specifically.
So how do you go about advertising with a podcast? First you contact the podcast via email or social media. Reach out and ask them about getting a spotlight shout-out on upcoming episodes. Other than paying for shout-outs, you might be able to arrange a trade, if you send them some products or a free sample.
A third way to advertise with podcasts is to purchase ad space on their website, and this brings me to my next point.
Advertise on a popular blog website.
Many bloggers or blog websites also have a podcast. Many times the two of these goes hand-in-hand. Either way though, advertising on a popular blog can be both inexpensive and very effective.
Blogs often have ad space available for purchase. Whether you get an ad placed to the side of every article written, or something larger across the top of their website, your ad will reach a large percentage of their readership. The best part about advertising on a blog, is being able to pick your target audience. All you have to do, is advertise with a blog that your businesses primary demographic would find interesting.
Advertise with an Online Business Directory
Online business directories are frequently visited by both business owners and potential customers. So whether you want to do B2B Marketing, or get in front of new potential clients, listing your business on an online directory is a smart idea. As a matter of fact, listing your business on multiple directories is the way to go.
Most online business directories have a free listing option. Aside from the free option, they usually have additional marketing packages that can be purchased. Paying for ad space, or even getting your business featured in a blog article on a directory is a great way to reach tons of new potential customers.
What makes these ideas great ways to market your business?
The above mentioned ideas are generally less expensive than traditional marketing strategies like: radio, television, search engine ads and even social media boosting.
Aside from the price, being able to choose your audience is a big advantage. Reaching dozens or hundreds of people who are actually interested in your product/service is way more valuable than reaching thousands of random people who have zero interest.
We hope that these ideas help your business grow and reach new heights. Thanks for taking the time to visit our blog. Be sure to list your business on our directory before you go.
